![]() FIRM OVERVIEW Barron Grier is an "AV" rated trial lawyer with 37 years of litigation experience, following in the tradition of his father, Barron Grier Junior, and his grandfather, Barron Grier Senior. He practices primarily in insurance defense matters with particular focus on construction defects and general litigation. His practice also includes toxic torts, insurance coverage, and administrative proceedings in professional grievance and disciplinary matters for physicians, dentists, nurses, and attorneys. He is also a certified mediator and arbitrator in state and federal courts. He has served on many Bar boards and committees. He was former president of the S.C. Defense Trial Attorneys Association, and 2006 president of the American Board of Trial Advocates (S.C. Chapter). He was previously a partner in Nelson, Mullins, Grier & Scarborough (1969-1974) and Richardson, Plowden, Grier & Howser (1974-1996). He founded the Grier Law Firm in 1996 and has added three attorneys who have extensive trial and appellate experience with varying specialties and talents.
Lauri Soles Darwin began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable C. Tolbert Goolsby, Jr. at the South Carolina Court of Appeals. She then went on to the South Carolina Attorney General's office where she handled federal habeas corpus matters, several of which she argued before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia. As part of her duties during her five years at the Attorney General's office, she argued several criminal appeals before the Supreme Court of South Carolina. She joined the Grier Law Firm in June of 1998. Her practice emphases are coverage issues and appellate practice. She also specializes in commercial litigation and debt collection. James C. "Trey" Cox, III is a South Carolina native and second-generation lawyer who began his legal career upon graduation from the University of South Carolina School of Law and admission to the South Carolina Bar in 2000. Mr. Cox was also admitted to practice in the same year with the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. Mr. Cox has been a litigator his entire legal career successfully trying cases in a broad range of practice areas including insurance defense litigation in the areas of personal injury, auto accidents and general liability. Mr. Cox also has extensive litigation experience in workers' compensation and general sessions court. Mr. Cox continues the tradition of litigation expertise at Grier Law Firm with his wide range of practical litigation experience. He is currently focusing in the areas of insurance defense litigation, construction litigation, personal injury litigation, automobile accident litigation, general liability litigation and workers compensation. Brad Cranshaw has served as a litigator throughout his entire career. His first labor in the profession emphasized public service. He worked as a criminal prosecutor for many years. This public career eventually saw service with the South Carolina Attorney General and a position on the State Grand Jury, our state's chief law enforcement arm. His focus shifted to the civil realm in 2002. His significant trial experience has served him well in our state courts, and Mr. Cranshaw is also qualified to practice before the United States Federal District Court for the District of South Carolina. He joined the Grier Law Firm in March of 2006. H. Thomas Morgan, Jr. began his legal career after his admission to the South Carolina Bar in 2006. Before joining the Grier Law Firm, he worked in The South Carolina Supreme Court Staff Attorneys’ Office, where he drafted opinions and orders for the Court, as well as researched, analyzed, and drafted memoranda on various complex legal issues before the Court. Prior to law school, Mr. Morgan served five years in the United States Army, Military Intelligence Branch. He currently practices in the areas of insurance defense, general liability, automobile wreck cases, workers’ compensation, and construction litigation. |
